Israel, the Intifada and the Rule of Law

By Colonel David Yahav, Captain (res.) Uzi Amit-Kohn. The book is reviewing Israel's experience during the Intifada and its effort to maintain the Rule of Law.

Although originally published following the end of the last intifada in 1993, this volume is yet highly relevant and informative concerning current events, presenting a researched, in-depth legal discussion of Israel's actions in the Administered Territories during the Palestinian uprising. It shows that in the face of a sustained insurrection of a hostile population under military government, the Israeli authorities have fought against the Palestinian uprising within the confines of law. In so doing, they have ensured that the complex body of principles, values and norms known as "The Rule of Law" has been maintained to a degree commensurate with, and in many ways above and beyond accepted international practice.
