The IDF Law Review, published by the IDF School of Military Law, serves both as an academic and professional research tool, and as a mechanism for facilitating debate and innovative ideas in the fields of Military Law, the Laws of War, Operational Law, as well as Criminal, Constitutional and other International Law issues relating to military activities.

Previous issues have dealt with a wide variety of issues, ranging from: military tribunals; the challenges posed to the Geneva Conventions by modern terrorism; the law of self-defense; the ICC; targeted killings; unlawful combatants; the law of occupation; military prosecutions in Judea and Samaria; the Superior Order defense; and more.

Submissions should be related to Military Law, The Laws of War, Operational Law, Criminal, Constitutional or other International Law issues relating to military activities, or any other issues relevant to the field of military legal scholarship, and may be from anyone including military attorneys and officers, legal professionals, academics, students, and others. There are no length requirements and submissions may be of any type, including articles, essays, recent developments commentaries, and book reviews. Submissions must be properly cited and conform to the 18th edition of the Bluebook for English pieces. Manuscripts should be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word format to law_school@idf.gov.il.

The IDF Law Review is committed to ensuring the highest academic and professional standards. Its content benefits from complete academic freedom and is not subject to any restrictions. The IDF Law Review does not bind or represent the official position of the IDF or the IDF Military Advocate General’s Corps in any form. In addition to employing language editors and implementing a peer review process, the IDF Law Review’s Academic Advisory Board will ultimately select the most relevant and highest quality manuscripts for publication.
